Oklahoma earns a No. 10 seed, will play Rhode Island

Rhode Island is in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year after advancing to the second round last year before falling to Oregon.

Providence reaches the NCAA tournament field for a school-record 5th straight season. "It's an honor, we're very, very grateful and excited to play a very talented Texas A&M team". The Big 12 placed seven teams (out of 10, matching the Big East's total from 2017) into the tournament, and the SEC received a conference-record eight bids (out of 14 schools).

"Obviously, I think we've done what we're supposed to do", said Oklahoma State coach Mike Boynton.

OSU wasn't among the last four teams out of the NCAA Tournament, according to the committee.

Kyron Cartwright was the hero here for the Friars scoring 15 pts with many of them coming late in this overtime thriller pushing Ed Cooley's team into a title game against either Butler or Villanova.

OU will play the #7 seed Rhode Island in the first round on Thursday at 11:15 central time in Pittsburgh.

The three teams are Rhode Island, Davidson, and St. Bonaventure. The Bears are one of four top seeds. Conference tournament winners from lower RPI conferences will play as No. 16 seeds in the other two games.

There is no doubt Oklahoma played a rugged schedule with a packed Big 12 schedule to deal with.

Boston College, Vermont, Harvard and Wagner (NEC) have all accepted invitations to the NIT.
