New Bedford's Bonzie Colson II and Notre Dame aren't going dancing

Unfortunately, when the teams for the NIT were officially announced, Penn State seemingly got slighted with its seed. Well, don't worry because the 2018 National Invitation Tournament is set to start on Tuesday, and run through March 29 and the field will be announced on Sunday night (8:30 p.m. ET), shortly after the NCAA Tournament field was announced.

It will be HU's first appearance in the NIT, which in 2006 began extending automatic invitations to regular-season champions that didn't win its conference tournament.

With the win the Fighting Irish move on to next Saturday's Big Ten Tournament Championship game where they will face the victor of the Ohio State vs. MI game while Penn State will await a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament during the selection show next Sunday.

The Irish's resume included wins over Florida State, Wichita State and North Carolina State, but they lost to Ball State, Indiana and suffered an ugly loss to Michigan State.

The Irish finished the season with a 20-14 overall record, finishing 12th in the ACC with an 8-10 record. His senior class won a school-record 98 games.

As a junior, when he was the only ACC player to average a double-double, Colson was named to the Associated Press All-American Third Team, All-ACC First Team, ACC All-Tournament First Team and was a finalist for the Karl Malone and Wooden Awards.

"Tony Carr if you look at mock drafts is a first round pick and he is an impressive player", Dunphy said. They reached the semifinals of the conference tournament in MSG before being eliminated by Purdue. Racking up 21 wins, finishing sixth in the tough Big Ten, beating a ranked Ohio State team three times and coming up ultimately one win short of an NCAA bid should have been enough to make the Nittany Lions one of the top teams in the NIT. Rasmussen said Notre Dame was the first team out and Syracuse was the last team in. NBADraft.net does not have him getting selected.
