NCAA tournament bracket revealed on Selection Sunday

Now the Cavaliers face a new challenge: trying to earn a spot in their first Final Four in more than three decades as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Musketeers (28-5) are No. 1 in the West Region and will face the First Four victor between North Carolina Central and Texas Southern on Thursday in Nashville.

St. Bonaventure, which had been considered a lock to join the tournament field for the first time since 2012 in the days leading up to Selection Sunday, was now no longer a sure thing as the cable TV special, which was shown on the RC's videoboard that hangs above center court, began at 6 p.m. "I think that's my greatest try and get as competitive as you can, but we just haven't played".

"Do you understand why I don't think conference tournaments are worth anything other than our fans like to travel? Experience helps, but being ready to play that night is the most important thing".

Florida, Florida State and Miami - a No. 6 seed in the South Region - were the only schools from Florida to earn invitations.

No. 2 North Carolina vs.

A&M's matchup against Providence will be played in Charlotte on Friday.

-Teams that didn't make it included St. Mary's (weak schedule), Notre Dame (not enough quality wins), Oklahoma State (Dick Vitale went on a rant ) and Louisville (its 39 rating in the RPI is the best to miss the tournament).

Blueitt's return was a huge boon to the Musketeers. He scored 34 points in two of his last three games.

Tennessee, which split the regular-season title with Auburn, is the SEC's top-seeded team at No. 3 in the South. Kentucky, which beat Tennessee 77-72 on Sunday for the SEC Tournament title, wound up seeded fifth in the same region.

"I was just in the auto and someone called me and said 'You're on murderer's row again". It was a nod to the sex-abuse scandal that has rocked Michigan State's athletic program, along with an NCAA eligibility issue involving Miles Bridges. MI is a No. 3 seed and will play against Montana at 9:50 p.m. Thursday.

Don't fall too in love with those Cinderellas, though, because history suggests their NCAA tournament runs will be limited. Yes, this means the 10, 11 and 12 seeds all advance.

With this year's selection, the Bruins have made the NCAA Tournament in four of coach Steve Alford's five years at the helm. Wichita State has been inconsistent, though, and lost two of its final three games, including to Cincinnati in the AAC tournament semifinals.

It is tempting to choose a No. 12 seed to knock off one of the No. 5 seeds early, since they, historically, have been the most popular choice for upsets, but the No. 10 seeds offer more value this year.

Ken Pom Says: North Carolina is the highest-rated team in the region (7), followed by Gonzaga (8), MI (10) and Xavier (14). The Friars went into Selection Sunday on a high-note, reaching the BIG EAST Tournament Championship after defeating Creighton and No. 3 ranked Xavier both in overtime, before being defeated by No. 2 Villanova in overtime in the league Championship game. This marks the third season in which Clemson has had that many averaging double-figures (2006-07; 2007-08).

No. 5 seed Ohio State could have its hands full with No. 12 South Dakota State in Boise.

- WHERE ARE THE 1s?: Only twice since the 2008 tournament has the NCAA title game even been a matchup of No. 1 seeds. Gonzaga gets revenge against UNC in the regional final.
