Manchester City's Sergio Aguero out for two weeks with knee injury

They have no fixture this coming weekend, as scheduled league opponents Brighton are away to Manchester United in the quarter-final of the FA Cup, and there then follows a two-week worldwide break before City travel to Everton on March 31.

Aguero wrote: "During yesterday's training I had a discomfort on my left knee".

Manchester City striker took to Twitter to reveal an injury setback suffered in training, confirming that he will be out of action for approximately two weeks, effectively ruling himself out of the Sky Blues' Monday night clash against Stoke City in the process. Now it's time for a full recovery'.

The injury will rule the Argentinian out of Monday's Premier League clash with Stoke City, although Gabriel Jesus is fit again and should replace him up front.

However, Aguero could now miss Argentina's friendly against Italy - due to be played at City's Etihad Stadium - on March 23, and the match against Spain four days later.

If Aguero can stick to the two week timetable, City's record goalscorer may only be missing for one game.

"But, as you are playing more and more, you are going to get that fear away and play your football".

Basel fought back to secure a 2-1 win in the second leg against City, but the Premier League club eased into the Champions League quarter-finals 5-2 on aggregate.
