Church of Scientology to launch its own TV channel today

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the group, helmed by divisive leader David Miscavige, is ready to launch a channel on DirecTV and platforms Apple TV and Roku on Monday, March 12.

So claims one promo for the Church of Scientology's newly announced TV network named, fittingly enough, The Scientology Network.

WELCOME to the SCIENTOLOGY NETWORK countdown to launch!

Early previous year, Scientology reporter Tony Ortega brought up rumors of a Church network. A Sunday post about the looming launch made mention of a Miami billboard plugging the network. A network was initially said to be launching on Spectrum, but the cable company denied such plans. A tweet on Sunday from the Scientology TV account says, "It's time for us to tell our story". For example, it recently spent millions to run a Super Bowl commercial. Like the latest add, branding for the network comes with the same "Curious?" tagline.

According to the app description in the Google Play store, the new network will feature such original series as "Meet a Scientologist", "Voices for Humanity" and "L. Ron Hubbard: In His Own Voice", in addition to a series of "Scientology Principles" films that explain "Basic Scientology Technology". Over many decades, a range of high-profile actors, musicians and others in Hollywood have at times openly plugged their adherence to Scientology, which is used in turn as a recruitment tool.
