Xiaomi set to launch 4 new smartphones on Wednesday

Eventually, we expect the company to launch the Redmi 5 in India on March 14. Bezels on the Redmi Note 5 Pro are not as thin as they are on the LG V30, Galaxy S9 or some other flagships out there, but having the device's price tag in mind, they're quite thin, as very few other phones which cost that much can say they have a 77.44-percent screen-to-body ratio. The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, which landed earlier this year, sported rather thin bezels, while Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro made a decision to follow that very same trend. The Redmi 5 Plus is already available in India as the Redmi Note 5. Most Xiaomi fans are displeased by this deficiency of stock and are taking to Twitter to gripe about the lack of stocks.

As is with majority of the sales of Xiaomi products, the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro went out of stocks nearly instantly after the sale kicked off, as a result of which many couldn't buy these smartphones. The 2GB RAM of the Redmi 5 is priced at CNY 799 (approximately Rs 8,100), the 3GB RAM variant is priced at CNY 899 (approximately Rs 9,100) while the 4GB RAM variant is priced at CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs 13,200). Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 sports a 5.99-inch full HD+ 18:9 display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. For graphics, it comes with a Adreno 506 GPU. The device runs Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.

Redmi 5 comes with a 12 Megapixel Autofocus rear camera with LED Flash and PDAF. Measuring 151.8 × 72.8 × 7.7mm, the smartphone is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery and offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and Global Positioning System as connectivity options. The phone is available in 4GB/6GB RAM variants with 64GB storage.

Coming back to the smartphones, the Redmi Note 5 Pro features a better camera (dual lens setup) and better processor (Snapdragon 636) in addition to Redmi Note 5's hardware. There's a 5MP camera on the front, that comes with a selfie flash.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, GPS with A-GPS, IR blaster, Bluetooth 5.0, and GLONASS.

The teaser shows the side profile of the device showing the two lines at the top and bottom of its rear panel and the camera bump.
