University cancels classes for a second winter storm

I don't think it will be necessary to fully cancel schools tomorrow because the snow is going to begin in the late morning and early afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a winter storm watch for much of central NY, including Oneida and Madison counties. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. This includes New York City, where 4-8 inches is possible, the weather service said. The service provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 825 traffic cameras.

Boston and coastal communities are expected to get mostly rain. Another ocean storm is expected to develop on Monday, but latest indications are that it may stay safely to our south and east and slide out to sea underneath us.

"I keep telling myself spring is tight around the corner, " Martin said with a laugh.

"It's not common but it is something that we've seen about once a winter over the past two to three years", she added.

A winter storm warning has been issued ahead of a potential nor'easter that could bring as much as a foot of snow, heavy rain and wind to the Tri-State area again.

Intense bands of snow are whipping parts of the Northeast, threatening risky driving conditions and more power outages Wednesday afternoon as the second nor'easter in a week hits the storm-weary East Coast.

The outages turned to outrage for a New Jersey man whose home had been without electricity since Friday.

Robert Winter, 63, was charged with making terroristic threats, according to police in Vernon. Some areas may see 20 inches of fresh powder.

The storm is expected to pack wind gusts of 30 to 50 miles per hour.

The storm has also generated preemptive cancellations by Amtrak and the MBTA, as well as early releases at some schools, because the National Weather Service has cautioned the weather system will hamper the evening commute and is likely to cause power outages as the storm intensifies.

More than 2,600 flights were cancelled at airports in Boston, Philadelphia, New York and Newark, New Jersey.

School districts and municipal operations around Pennsylvania and CT are closed for the day.

Where.portions of central, northern and northwest New Jersey and east central and southeast Pennsylvania. Parts of the area could have a snow shower that brings a fresh coating. Caution is advised for those with heart problems as over exertion removing wet snow could prompt a heart attack.

The coastal flooding, thanks in part due to the recent full moon and astronomical high tides, has diminished over the last few days.

And now, parts of Pennsylvania could receive between eight and 12 inches of snow this week; parts of NY can anticipate seven to 11 inches of snow; and parts of MA should prepare for as many as 15 inches of snow.
