The Latest News On Rey Mysterio Suffering Injury

PWInsider reports that Rey Mysterio is scheduled to undergo testing today to determine the severity of his arm injury, which is feared to be a bicep tear. As rumors about Mysterio being set for a return to the WWE and even having a high-profile match with John Cena, there's no doubt what terrible timing it is for Mysterio to get injured if he were supposed to make a return to the company.

As previously reported, the injury occurred during the final minutes of the main event of Northeast Wrestling's Wrestlefest 2018 in Waterbury, CT this past Friday, with Mysterio teaming with Flip Gordon to defeat Joey Mercury and Caleb Konley. The report says that after the injury, Mysterio took the match straight to the finish and that there was heavy swelling in his arm afterwards. The injury is not serious but there's no word yet on when Rey may be back in action.

At 43, Mysterio has slowed down, but he is still capable of great matches and he has generally kept healthy by the less demanding independent schedule. There was a lot of buzz around Mysterio when he made his return to this year's Royal Rumble match, especially considering the fact that he looked to be in tremendous shape since he left the company. Mysterio is a three-time WWE world champion, a two-time Intercontinental Champion, five-time tag team champion, and eight-time cruiserweight champion.
