Sea of Thieves Opens Up for Final Beta This Weekend

Rare has announced that Sea of Thieves' final beta is now live and it is open to everyone on Xbox One and Windows 10.

The Sea of Thieves Final Beta requires an Xbox LIVE account on both PC and Xbox One, with an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription required on Xbox One. And since this is the last beta before it launches on March 20, Rare is going to be letting pirates access a bunch of things that have been kept out of previous betas. To install, you will just need to search for and install the Sea of Thieves Final Beta. Another new feature being tested in the beta is Skeleton Forts, which creates the opportunity for forts in the world to be occupied by skeletons. Watch out for that telltale skull cloud above a fort which indicates the chance of great rewards but also great risk.

The Merchant Alliance will pay players to scout for supplies, ship resources, and animals, and will mix up gameplay a bit, offering something other than the Gold Hoarders' treasure hunts. Or might they even be there already? We're thrilled that players will be able to experience Sea of Thieves in 4K on the most powerful console ever made.

During a developer update about the final beta, executive producer Joe Neate explained that the studio wants to have a greater number of players trying the game out than before, and in order to do so it has opened up the trial to everyone.

Thanks to everyone that has helped us get to where we are so far.

"It seems like just yesterday that we launched the Insider Programme for Sea of Thieves". Most excitingly, we've seen many, many unbelievable stories from our players, and recently we allowed them to share these with the world during our Closed Beta.
