Jimmy Kimmel hits back at Trump over Oscars ratings

President Trump blamed the Academy Awards' historically low ratings on the lack of stars - except for him.

President Trump is humoring himself on Twitter Tuesday morning, poking fun at the Oscars while paying himself a compliment.

"Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY", he tweeted.

Among Kimmel's presidential jokes this year was a quip about the White House communications director quitting last Wednesday.

Viewership for the Academy Awards plunged 20 percent from previous year to a record-low 26.5 million, the first time on record the Oscars reached fewer than 30 million people.

The 90 Academy Awards this year - in all their jet ski, Helen Mirren shot-taking, Jodie Foster on crutches glory - had the lowest TV ratings ever at 26.5 million viewers.

"Just kidding, of course", he added in parentheses.

Kimmel mocked Trump twice during his mologue and also took a jab at Vice President Mike Pence and recently departed staffer Hope Hicks.

"Let's start with the sanctimonious, so-called comedian, host Jimmy Kimmel, now Democratic activist dedicating much of his opening speech to women's rights", Hannity said.

The Associated Press reported that this marked the first time Oscar viewership dropped below 30 million people. We don't make films like "Call Me By Your Name" for money. Haddish said to Entertainment Tonight at the annual Oscar Govoner's ball.
