Certain models of the Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker are being recalled by their distributor because they can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Double Insight says they received 107 reports of overheating, resulting in five incidents in minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.

The cookers were sold from August 2017 through January 2018 for about $80.

Consumers are instructed to stop using the multicooker and to return it to Walmart to request a free replacement, or to contact Double Insight to request a return shipping label and instructions.

The Gem 8-in-1 cooker under the recall alert has a batchcode of 1728, 1730, 1731, 1734 or 1746.

A manufacturer is recalling a multi-cooker sold exclusively at Walmart stores due to concerns that the unit may overheat. "At the same time, the company should investigate whether safety issues are limited to just the recalled products-and if there are other products affected, it should expand its recall and its warnings to consumers".
