Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact's Specs and Prices Now Leaked

A leaked photo of what might be a prototype of the rumored Xperia XZ2 Compact surfaced yesterday, and (based on the picture), it may be another hard year for Sony. How Sony will spin this, we don't know, but if it's like any other company, we imagine they'll cite water/dust resistance, battery capacity and/or general space considerations. Either way, it's good to see Sony embracing an all-screen design to catch up to its competitors, and perhaps finally ditch the OmniBalance design it has used for the past few years.

An Xperia Blog commenter by the name of "Grisha" posted a photo of what he claims is a prototype of the Xperia XZ2 Compact sitting next to an Xperia Z5 Compact. The rumor arrives from Swedish Android website Swedroid (via Xperia Blog) only days before the handsets are expected to be unveiled. Ultimately though this is basically the Xperia XZ2 Compact. The most expensive of the two Sony upcoming handsets, the Xperia XZ2 is said to boast a large 5.7-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating and 18:9 aspect ratio. As per the latest spec leak, it seems the Xperia XZ2 Compact will have similar specs as the Xperia XZ2, only with a smaller screen.

Both phones will likely not include a 3.5mm headphone jack (boo!), and the fingerprint sensor has been moved from being built into the power button on the side of the phone to the rear of the phone. This device may come equipped with the same Snapdragon 845 chipset that will work in tandem with 4GB RAM and 64GB of native storage. The phones will also use the vibration engine (haptic feedback?) to power a new music feature for the phone, which sounds a bit exciting. The XZ2 is speculated to cost SEK 7,990 (around $985), while the Xperia XZ2 Compact could cost SEK 5,990 (~$740).
