Mattel Announces Lara Croft Barbie Doll, Releasing in March

Mattel has revealed a new Tomb Raider Barbie inspired by the March 16, 2018 movie based upon the 2013 game.

Unveiled by IGN, the new Croft figure features Lara's trademark long locks, combat gear, a map, a journal and - naturally - a pickaxe.

"You won't have to go to the ends of the earth to bring the Tomb Raider Barbie Doll home to your collection". The new movie (which is also a reboot, leaving the Angelina Jolie films behind) follows a young Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) as she travels to a hidden island in search of answers behind her father's disappearance. She's also bandaged up and holds her climbing axe.

Lara Croft, its tomb-raiding archaeologist heroine, is known around the world and has been for the more than 20 years since her first video game became a global smash. There will also be a stand included, so collectors can show her off, and a certificate of authenticity.

Check out the Tomb Raider clip below. It will be available for retail on March 9, exactly a week before the release date of the "Tomb Raider" film. Some have likened the tone of the newer games to other games such as The Last of Us and Uncharted. "I was a bit too scared to play the whole game when I was about 10, so I mostly spent time doing the tricks and learning her moves in that manner". I hope so, there's definitely a bunch more options then when I was younger.

Tomb Raider is directed by Roar Uthaug with Oscar-winner Graham King producing under his GK Films banner.
