Rumour: Spyro the Dragon Trilogy PS4 remaster is coming this year

This Spyro remake will be similar to that highly successful remake in that there'll be new assets, animations, lighting, a remastered soundtrack and new cutscenes, according to the report.

Activision hasn't confirmed or denied anything right now but it's claimed that the title, called Spyro Collection, is going to be announced next month before it's released in Q3 this year.

Vicarious Visions is beavering away on a remastered Spyro the Dragon Trilogy for PS4, reports Kotaku.

While details are scarce, the source did confirm that the remaster will have PS4 Pro support, and could include some content cut from the original releases of the games. Now, according to sources familiar with the project, it seems as if a remaster of the original trilogy featuring the flying purple serpent is currently in the works for the PlayStation 4.

Since the "Spyro the Dragon" trilogy remaster is a timed exclusive for the PS4, it should be ported to other game systems sometime in 2019. Many are speculating the release date will be some time in September since it lines up with the original Spyro the Dragon's 20th-anniversary celebration.

The classic game would be released for PlayStation 4 late this year, Kotaku UK reported, citing multiple unnamed sources.

It all sounds just like the N Sane Trilogy, but we're not complaining.

Like the "N. sane Trilogy", the "Spyro the Dragon" remaster is being developed by Vicarious Visions. Spyro and his friends entered the mainstream again in 2011 with the Skylanders toys-to-life action games.

Given the persistent calls from Spyro fans looking to return to Glimmer, this would certainly be the most sensible follow up to Crash.

Spyro the Dragon sold almost five million copies worldwide.
