'Shazam!' Gets April 2019 Release Date

Warner Bros. has announced that Shazam! will be released on April 5, 2019, confirming that the date, which was previously filled with an unnamed DC Comics film project, belongs to the Zachary Levi starring film, according to Deadline. Until now, we had Aquaman on December 21st and Wonder Woman 2 on November 1, 2019, but now Shazam! is officially on the schedule.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Shazam!

Chuck star Zachary Levi stars in the film as the adult superhero Captain Marvel, who is actually a young boy named Billy Batson (played by Asher Angel).

Also attached to the cast are Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Grace Fulton as Mary Marvel, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley and Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. Darren Lemke and Henry Gayden provide the screenplay.

Shazam! arrives in theaters on April 5, 2019. The DCEU needs a bit of a rebound, and Shazam! is coming in cold in that the character hasn't featured in any DCEU movie thus far.

As Warner Bros. continues to work on the big screen adaptation of Shazam! Hopefully, we'll have more details on the project soon, and I wouldn't be surprised if we get the first official look sometime around Comic-Con.

Levy was asked about a cameo, particularly Gal Gadot as Diana Prince or Wonder Woman, and that would be his pick too.
