Mary J. Blige is Ready to "Bounce Back"

Just yesterday Mary J. Blige was honoured with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, that happened to also be her birthday. And we learned how to survive. With a Hollywood star added to her already cemented legacy, Blige's story now lives on forever. She had three jobs and she never stopped. "There's been times in my career that I didn't even want to step out of my house because I was hurt so bad".

"I wanna thank God for this moment..."

"God gave me the strength to keep stepping and keep my head up, regardless of what anybody thought about me. My skin is tough".

The star is the 2,626th since the completion of the Walk of Fame in 1961 with the first 1,558 stars.

Featured guests Thursday included rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, who worked with Blige on her album My Life, record producer Andre Harrell and Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O'Farrell.

"I am feeling like a proud father", Harrell, who founded Uptown Records, the label that signed Blige in 1989, said.

"The song was released on SoundCloud with the caption: "#TimesUp. The singer and actress were supported by her longtime friend, Diddy and record producer, Andre Harrel who both gave handsome speeches about her. "I know my work and I understand what this means". I say that with confidence and not arrogance.

Blige was recently nominated for a Golden Globe and SAG Award for her role in the film.
