IED recovered on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway

In occupied Kashmir, two innocent citizens were injured after Indian troops opened fire in HMT area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Saturday. Sniffer dogs were also pressed into service. The official said the area was cordoned off and traffic was diverted. After the IED was detected by the Road Opening Party, traffic was stopped on the highway and the IED defused.

"Bomb disposal squads of police, Army and the Central Reserve Police Force immediately reached the spot and removed the explosive device", a police officer said.

IED claimed lives of four policemen in Sopore last week when it went off in a busy market.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ismail, a naka was established by army in the area after receiving inputs about movement of militants. "If it would have been a (land) mine, how a person could have lifted it?" he said.
