FL: Woman kidnapped, killed in murder-for-hire mistake

Janice Zengotita-Torres, 42, was leaving a Ross Dress for Less near Kissimmee last Sunday night when the suspected contract killers - Alexis Ramos-Rivera, 22, and his girlfriend Glorianmarie Quinones Montes - followed her home and forced Zengotita-Torres into the back of her own auto and drove her to an apartment near The Mall at Millenia in Orlando.

Their alleged plan went wrong when the hired killers murdered the wrong woman, officials said.

The Orlando Sentinel reports Zengotita-Torres' family reported her missing Monday morning.

They said Ishnar Lopez-Ramos, 35, wanted to kill a woman who was in a relationship with a man she loved, Fox 35 Orlando reported.

Analysts trust they did in the end acknowledge they'd grabbed the wrong individual yet "proceeded with their arrangement of murder and tied the casualty with zip ties, and after that her head in channel tape and junk sacks", Gibson said. He said the three of them dumped Torres' body 91 miles away in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Ormond Beach.

The pair allegedly mistook Zengotita-Torres for the target, but even after realizing she was the wrong person, they allegedly bound her and suffocated her with garbage bags, Gibson said.

Gibson said that's when Ramos and Rivera realized they had abducted the wrong person, but made a decision to continue with their plan.

Zengotita-Torres' vehicle was later found in Orange County, Gibson said.

"This woman lost her life for no reason".

They are being held in the Osceola County Jail on murder charges.

Ramos was arrested Thursday night while using Zengotita-Torres' card to withdraw cash from an ATM in the area, according to authorities.

"This was a murder for hire", said Osceola County Sheriff Russell Gibson.

Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson amid a news meeting Friday told correspondents the suspects purposefully focused on the 42-year-old Kissimmee inhabitant due to an instance of mixed up character. Ramos and his girlfriend were later arrested at a hotel near Orlando, Gibson said.

The woman who was the intended target of the murder-for-hire plot has been notified about the scheme against her but has denied protective services, deputies said.
