England line up Nigeria, Costa Rica for World Cup warm-ups

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has described a June 2 World Cup warm-up against England at Wembley as a big test for his team.

The Super Eagles take on the Three Lions at Wembley Stadium on June 2 in preparation for the tournament in Russian Federation that kicks off on June 14.

England's coach, Gareth Southgate on his part stated that England's warm-up games against Nigeria and Costa Rica would be the flawless preparation for the World Cup.

"We're going into a World Cup where we will play African and Central American oppositions, so the games against Nigeria and Costa Rica would be good for us".

"We want to expose the team to different styles and different experiences".

With Tunisia and Panama among the World Cup group G opponents, the Nigeria and Costa Rica games will be a vital opportunity for Southgate to try tactics against non-European sides.

Nigerian coach Gernot Rohr has expressed delight at the opportunity to lead his team against the 1966 world champions ahead of the World Cup in Russian Federation.

The match will be only the third between both countries at senior level, and will serve as the Super Eagles' final preparatory game for the FIFA World Cup finals in Russian Federation, with their first match against Croatia in Kaliningrad coming exactly two weeks after.

"This is good news for myself and the entire team".

David Platt's headed goal towards the end of the first half separated both teams, before both teams met again at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

"We have other matches and programs for the team, and we will soon roll out the entire plan for matches, camping sites and training camps", he said.

Southgate's men already have two friendlies scheduled for March, against Holland in Amsterdam and Italy at Wembley.
