The Ox says this: Coutinho going doesn't affect us at all

Attentions now turn to who could replace Coutinho but speaking on Friday ahead of this weekend's meeting with league leaders Manchester City, Klopp insisted the club will not do anything "crazy" this month and called on the rest of his squad to "step up".

"He's a good guy we play against each other a couple of times - he's a fantastic player". Do I think I can use him and can he help us?'

"Nothing will persuade me selling Coutinho now makes sense."

"We have to "replace" him internally".

In his blog for BetVictor, Owen has given his thoughts on the Algerian winger, saying: "I was asked this week if I thought Riyad Mahrez, who has been linked with a move to Anfield, would be the ideal replacement for Coutinho but I couldn't agree".

They are also in talks to bring forward a move for Naby Keita, despite public opposition from Keita's current club RB Leipzig.

"We will have 11 players and we've played fantastic football without Phil".

Liverpool rejected three Barcelona bids and a transfer request from the player during last summer's transfer window, but Klopp conceded they could no longer keep the player against his will.

The Brazilian spoke of the transfer being a dream move for him and said he couldn't turn down the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Last week, we covered a report via Bein Sports France claiming that Liverpool are close to signing the Algerian global. "He is a player of Leipzig, that's what I know, and will be here in the summer".

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool FC will indeed make any more signings this month but Murphy clearly believes that a midfielder should be Klopp's priority in the mid-season transfer window.

"If nothing happens in this moment, Mo is back, he is training completely normally", confirmed Klopp. He is a little bit early but after that he should be ready. We have goals and creativity all over the team. Coutinho had four years left on his contract at Anfield, he was cup-tied for Barcelona's European games and they didn't need him to win the league, as they're nine points clear at the top of the table.
