Krantz will serve as the special teams assistant and will coach the nickel and SAM linebacker positions.

"Two short years ago we were coming off three wins".

Muschamp would owe SC a $4 million buyout should he leave the Gamecocks next season, a figure that decreases to $3.5 million in 2019 and $3 million in 2020.

Muschamp, who has been coaching in the SEC since 2011, was on a one-year stint as the defensive coordinator for the Auburn Tigers in 2015. Krantz was placed in charge of quality control for the offense in 2013, working primarily with the wide receivers, and for the defense in 2014, working with the defensive backs.

Krantz is married to the former Brittany Hauck.

South Carolina AD Ray Tanner said retaining Muschamp and his staff was a key priority this offseason.

As a freshman in 2010, he rushed for 1,197 yards and led the Gamecocks to their first SEC Eastern Division title and was named SEC Freshman of the Year. His career was slowed by a catastrophic injury he sustained to his left knee which massively hurt his draft stock. "As a standout high school player, he could have gone anywhere, but chose to stay home and play for his state's flagship university".

Lattimore was one of the most beloved players in USC history. "He will be a great addition to our program".

He owns the school record for rushing touchdowns in a career (38) and in a single season (17) and was taken in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the 49ers. He initially wanted to hire Lattimore as an advisor for the program, but the NCAA blocked the move because Lattimore was operating camps for high school prospects in the state of SC.

He is married to the former Miranda Bailey.
