Man Utd Look To Bring Former Star Back To Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho has refused to rule out a move for Alexis Sanchez - describing the Arsenal star as a "phenomenal" player.

Ibrahimovic returned from a six-month absence from a serious knee injury in November but after making a handful of appearances he aggravated the injury last month.

The Reds boss confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still unavailable for selection as the striker is still a couple of weeks away from returning to full training.

The story says that Manchester United are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements this month as Mourinho looks to give his team the best possible chance of catching Manchester City in the race for the title.

"He fought like a tiger to be back which he did". He was starting having minutes here and there, he had a start, he had 60 minutes of one game and started another one, and had 45 [minutes], and he was not happy with his feelings.

"The first time he insulted me I had a response, a response that I know that touched the point where he really feels hurt".

However, reports on Friday claimed that City had made a decision to pull out of the race for the striker as they believed his £20million transfer fee did not warrant value for money - given that the player is out of contract and available on a free in the summer.

The striker snubbed Arsenal to stay at the King Power on a new £100,000-a-week deal after Euro 2016 is a guaranteed starter every week and enjoys a close relationship with the fans.

Sanchez often plays as a winger too but securing a player of his talent would be a massive coup for United, while Mourinho would relish the chance to get one over on Pep Guardiola.
