EPL: Guardiola speaks on Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez transfer saga

Sanchez is the sort of match-winner Jose Mourinho's squad clearly lacks at the moment, with City's massive 15-point lead at the top of the Premier League standings [VIDEO] putting pressure on the red-half of Manchester to recruit higher quality attackers.

It would be a coup, particularly for United fans, to have a player like Sanchez potentially come to them over City. "Alexis, everyone knows how good he is, but I am not going to answer about Alexis or other players".

Sanchez was on the verge of joining the league leaders last summer.

Reports on Thursday suggested that Manchester United were prepared to launch a £25m deal to sign Sanchez from Arsenal in what would be a controversial transfer between two bitter rivals.

"At the general level what I can say is myself and the Manchester United board, the owners, we don't believe a lot in the January market".

"What we believe really is there are some players in football world if you have the chance to sign them in January, in March or in July, you have to try and that's it".

"He's a great player and he knows very well that in my first season at Juventus we tried to buy him from Udinese, and then he made a decision to go to Barcelona".

LEROY SANE claims he is not anxious about his place in the Manchester City starting XI. even if they sign Alexis Sanchez.

And he hopes Arsene Wenger can engineer an exchange deal so Arsenal can acquire a new star man.

"If I was a player, I would play for the club I am at with 100 percent commitment", Wenger said. The agents say to the club, I bring him to you at the end of the contract, but you give me a big agent's fee. "I'm focused on (playing) Liverpool, believe me".

"I maintain what I said".

That is the question that Sanchez is being faced with for real, with both Manchester City and Manchester United chasing the Chilean this month.

"If I was a player I would play for the club where I am and with 100% commitment", he added.

The prospect of Sanchez going to United in the manner that Robin van Persie once did seems completely unconscionable to some Arsenal supporters.

"Sanchez is an Arsenal player".
