DETECTIVE PIKACHU is Finally Coming to America, with a Giant Amiibo!

Detective Pikachu is the same size as Regular Old Pikachu!

The Pokemon spin-off game Detective Pikachu for the Nintendo 3DS is finally coming to the U.S. Sadly, neither Ryan Reynolds nor Danny DeVito seem to be voicing the Internet's favorite crime-solving electric rodent. Tim and this gruff, coffee-drinking Pikachu have teamed up to investigate the disappearance of Tim's father. If you use it in-game, you can nab special videos with hints that could potentially help you figure out some hard parts of your investigation.

In this world, Detective Pikachu isn't just special because he's got a jaunty deerstalker cap. Japan will get the second episode on this date as well. The film's script will be written by Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman and it will be co-written by Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch. "Look for clues, talk to witnesses, and uncover the secrets of Ryme City!" says the official release. This extra-large amiibo can unlock cutscenes if tapped in the Detective Pikachu game, revealing a combination of hilarious content that might also provide a hint. Specifically, we're getting more amiibo. The game was initially launched in Japan in March 2016, with The Pokemon Company now deciding to bring it to the west following the announcement of the Detective Pikachu movie. Bizarrely, Pikachu cannot only speak English, but has a somewhat gruff demeanour and a penchant for guzzling coffee. Featuring a speaking role for the ever popular Pokemon, the game represents a very unique spinoff.
