Burnley bring in Nkoudou on loan from Spurs

It is being suggested that Spurs winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou is close to a loan move to Burnley for the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old Frenchman will undergo a medical in the north-west on Tuesday and could be available for the Clarets' next Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at the weekend.

He has since made just nine appearances for Tottenham - scoring for the first time when he netted against APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League in December - but he remains a player the club wants to keep hold of. He has been a bit-part player under Mauricio Pochettino this season, but at Burnley he is expected to get regular games.

Sean Dyche's side, who are only two places below Tottenham in the league table, have been chasing a winger after seeing their options in that area depleted last month when Republic of Ireland global Robbie Brady underwent knee surgery.

The new number seven has described the move to Lancashire as a "big opportunity" and also revealed he had been told good things about the club by former Burnley star Kieran Trippier. "I am happy to be here, so thank you Trippier", Nkoudou told Burnley's official website.

"I think it's a big opportunity to play my first minutes this season in the Premier League".

The speed machine has made six appearances for Spurs this season, with just one start. Loaning Nkoudou allows for Spurs to register Erik Lamela for the Champions League, ensuring the Argentinian is available for the pivotal round-of-16 tie against Juventus. They have played very well. But the last word is with the manager. "If the manager puts me on the pitch I will to everything on the pitch".
