Android Oreo update for G6 being tested by LG

However, OnePlus confirmed soon after the 5T made it to market that the smartphone will eventually get Android Oreo.

As we mentioned, a tweet posted on the OnePlus Deutschland (German) official Twitter handle mentions that the Android 8.0 Oreo open beta rollout for the OnePlus 5T "starts now". It's not clear if LG is planning on making an Oreo beta available G6 owners in other countries, though either way, it's good to see LG progressing towards an Oreo release.

Users can regularly check for the stable OTA Android 8.0 Oreo update via the software update option, which is projected to become available soon. The OnePlus 5T also has a new Face Unlock feature alongside a fingerprint sensor. It's hard to make sense of everything if you can't read Chinese, but it's crystal clear that the phone is running Android 8.0.

While OnePlus 5T is now enjoying most of the attention, OnePlus has not forgotten its older models. Apart from this, users will get all the major Android Oreo features including picture-in-picture mode, auto-fill feature, notification dots, smart text selections and more. As the update is in beta, it will be available to those who want to test the build using Open Beta program. The LG G6 is the first smartphone of the company to come with bezel-less display.

Besides the Honor 8 Pro, the Honor 7X, Honor 8 and the Honor View 10 are also set to receive Oreo updates though a final date has yet to be announced. On the front, the smartphone has a 5MP camera.
