No. 7 Miami loses WR Ahmmon Richards for rest of season

Multiple outlets reported Wednesday that receiver Ahmmon Richards was carted off the field during practice with an unspecified injury.

Richards, a sophomore, has dealt with a variety of injuries throughout the year but is still third on the team with 24 catches for 439 yards and three touchdowns.

Richards flashed big-time potential last season, breaking Michael Irvin's record for most yards by a Miami freshman wide receiver when he totaled 934, bringing down 49 balls for a 19.1 yards-per-catch average with three touchdowns.

Richards (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Miami's season, Craig Davis of The Sun Sentinel reports. That news came less than a week after the Hurricanes (10-1) lost starting tight end Christopher Herndon IV, also to a season-ending knee injury. However, the past two weeks he has caught a combined seven passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns.

The Miami Hurricanes are hard at work, preparing for Saturday's ACC Championship Game against top-ranked Clemson. It'll be a matchup of one-loss teams as the Tigers lost on the road to Syracuse earlier in the year.
