Sindhu says mistreated by IndiGo staff

Star Shuttler PV Sindhu has on Saturday expressed her anguish and dissatisfaction over IndiGo's groundstaff for alleged "rude behavior" through a series of tweets on her official Twitter handle.

The airlines however, released a statement backing the staff member. However, IndiGo management stood firm by its staff's side and faulted Sindhu for insisting on carrying oversized baggage. "Ms Sindhu was informed that her baggage will be moved to cargohold of the aircraft".

"The ground staff misbehaved with Sindhu while handling her kit bag. This is the same policy we follow for all customers", the airline said in a statement.

"When airhostess Ashmia asked the ground staff for his name to complain, he shoved his ID card in her face and asked her to write his name down to complain". She claimed that Mr. Ajeetesh, who as per her works for Indigo, behaved rudely with her and an air hostess who intervened to advise him against doing so. "We have inquired on the issue and found that Ms. Sindhu was carrying a baggage which was overweight and not even fitting into the overhead bin".

In another Tweet PV Sindhu wrote, "Ground staff (skipper) Mr Ajeetesh behaved very badly and rudely with me".

A Twitter user also cheekily replied to the badminton star that the name "Bombay" is incorrect and that she should use the correct name to refer to the city. She usually carries them as hand luggage. But the person behaved rudely. "She was hurt", Sindhu's father Ramana told PTI.

Sindhu is considered as one of the most successful badminton players in India. "However, safety of our operations is paramount to IndiGo", the statement added. "We hope that Ms Sindhu will appreciate that our colleague was only carrying out his duty in the best interest of a safe and reliable operation", the airline concluded.

Sindhu first posted, saying she had a bad experience and named the employee. Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh had also tweeted out after an unsatisfactory experience with British Airways and Jet Airways respectively.
