Whoops! Some Pixel 2 XL units are arriving without Android

Our mobile editor Max Parker says: "It might not be the best Android phone available in every area, but the Google Pixel 2 XL is the one I would buy".

The iPhone 8 Plus was released on September 22, while Pixel was made available for shipment starting October 19. It was the much talked about phones that Google launched in its series of Pixel in India.

While not installing an operating system on the Pixel 2 XL was most likely an isolated incident, what is not uncommon to users is the blue tint that forms on the larger phone.

Talking about the price of the smartphones, Pixel 2 is priced at Rs. 61,000 for the 64GB variant and Rs. 70,000 for 128 GB model. The drawback of the Google Pixel 2 smartphone is that its internal storage can not be further expanded. As reported by Android Police, some Pixel 2 XL owners are receiving their units without an operating system installed on the device.

The Google Pixel 2 smartphone has a single SIM (GSM) slot that can be used with a Nano-SIM.

The camera of both the smartphones has a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture along with dual LED flash. This means that selfies are still better taken with an iPhone albeit Pixel 2's higher 8 megapixels compared to iPhone 8's 7 megapixels. For connectivity, Google Pixel 2 comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and supports 3G as well as 4G for Band 40 & Indian LTE networks.

As for this little incident, let us hope that Google puts more work in ensuring that its Pixel 2 XL comes running an OS before it ships out to the owner. Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and Barometer.

The India region offers several services including compute, Big Data, storage and networking, Google said.
