Apple announces prices for 2017 model devices

After a long time, Apple has finally updated its PC, the all new 5K iMac Pro for 2017. As such, I'm not now in a position to post a "review" of either system.

At its WWDC conference this year, Apple announced a slew of new and exciting products, along with updates to its popular iMac and MacBook lineup.

With these powerful update screens, users can enjoy crisp, and "more vivid, true-to-life viewing experience", Apple added. For one, its processing speed performed adequately. Much as I'd like Apple to introduce an actually modern laptop at that £950 price, I suppose this is better than nothing.

We were lucky enough to get early access to the new Pro before nearly anyone else and while we could get into the tech specs, bells, and whistles, we decided instead to go for something that's so Teen Vogue. It's good news for anyone who didn't rush out and buy the last iterations, as the price has dropped for the entry-level Pro, compared to 2016's equivalent. The new MacBook keyboard sports the same layout and key travel but the feel has improved a lot.

Do Not Disturb While Driving: This extremely helpful safety feature uses Bluetooth, location and Wi-Fi data to determine whether you are driving or not and subsequently turns off notification when you're behind the wheel. If you can't, the £1,450 configuration still includes the 256GB SSD. That said, the Studio offers a whole realm of options the iMac does not thanks to its touch screen, making it more than just a speedy desktop.

So we'll make do with a 13 inch dual core MacBook Pro that will certainly run a VM, but not with the authority of its bigger brother. It may go as steep as $2,799 for the 15-inch Touch Bar model. It can be high for video content and low, thus saving battery life, if you're just looking at a document. Overall, the iPad Pro is exactly what its name suggests it is: a tablet suitable for professional users.

The GPUs don't change, but the default configurations do.

The iMac's powerful AMD Radeon Vega graphics really set it apart, as well: These (still somewhat mysterious) cards from AMD are meant to compete with Nvidia's top Quadro cards, so there should be tremendous 3D capability packed within the iMac Pro. They will both ship on 14 June.

"If a 12.9" screen is more iPad than you need, there are some great deals on its 9.7" little sister. As a quick refresher, Apple's flagship MacBook Pro was derided for being overpriced and under-powered, with many users lamenting the fact that Apple's pro-oriented machine could only support 16GB of RAM. This comes after many years of stop-and-start, neither-explicitly-encouraged-nor-discouraged efforts by third parties to use the Thunderbolt interface for that goal. The objective, according to the rep, was to show off how smoothly VR could work on macOS High Sierra and with current Apple hardware, like the 5K iMac. The only things missing are USB-C or Thunderbolt 3.

There's nothing special about this box.

Other than that, however, much has remained the same, even some of the chips used are exactly the same. No, it is not a Mac Pro refresh but is the new behemoth for the Apple desktop products.

Also unclear is whether the dock will allow for the use of Nvidia GPUs.

Desktop computers have come in two flavours for the last few years. boxes you plug into your monitor or TV, and all-in-one devices like Apple's popular iMac series.
