Curry, Durant power Warriors past Cavs in Game 1, 113-91

Some predictions see the NBA Finals ending quickly. They scored 21 points off 20 Cavaliers turnovers while making only four giveaways, tying the fewest by any team in any NBA Finals game.

The Cavs can score. All of which is to say, a close series isn't necessarily built off close individual games. That isn't the issue.

"It's just a little bit of swelling but has nothing to do with my performance", he said.

"We could be a lot better than we were tonight, but in the finals, you get the W, we'll take it", Warriors forward Kevin Durant said.

No one said it's easy to guard Golden State.

3-Point Goals: 11-31, .355 (Irving 3-4, Love 3-6, James 2-6, D.Jones 1-2, Smith 1-2, Shumpert 1-3, J.Jones 0-1, Jefferson 0-2, Dero.Williams 0-2, Korver 0-3).

Amusing thing is for Cleveland, the Cavs had the answer they needed to just that three months ago in Andrew Bogut.

But the NBA Finals were here, so of course, the Golden State Warriors swingman nailed the only shot he took behind the arc during Game 1 vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Warriors seized a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series that continues Sunday in Oakland.

And this year, it was Cleveland's turn to lose Bogut. Their best bet is to hope the Warriors walk it up after a made Cavs basket, giving them time to set up and find their men.

It's becoming clear stopping Durant is not going to be an option.

Durant had six dunks in the first half alone to match his most ever in a game, Curry hit six 3-pointers and the Cavaliers looked like the team that stumbled down the stretch in the second half of the season.

Durant had 23 points in the half, while James had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Durant was all but unstoppable those first 24 minutes.

On the next possession, Green scored against James in the post and got the foul call.

— The third, James slipped and again no help came.

He also averaged more steals (1.8) than turnovers (1.7) during the six-game series.

"We have to be able to make shots and move the ball", James said. James said he would do his best to be ready for the series opener when his mind was elsewhere, concerned for his wife and children back in Ohio.

The problem with all trilogies is that as they go on, they get worse; just see the Back to the Future conclusion.

The Warriors shot 42.5 percent and committed only four turnovers. He doesn't box out, overplays every pick-and-roll and is predictable as a leaper and thus ineffective as a rim protector. They've won 28 of their last 29 games. They include both regular-season and playoff games.

Kerr's.841 regular-season winning percentage is the best in National Basketball Association history, and his playoff winning percentage of.759 is second only to Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue. The silly smile was replaced either by some open-mouthed awe at the Warriors' wonderfulness or by grim, tight-lipped determination that Cleveland will clean up a host of Game 1 failings.

But James also had seven turnovers as the Cavs fell behind 60-52. The Cavaliers won the title a year ago because LeBron James was the best player in the series. The Warriors didn't just beat the Cavaliers this night as much as they burglarized them, stealing precious territory that was not rightfully theirs.
