James, Love help Cavs rout Celtics 117-104 in Game 1

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James (23) drives against Boston Celtics' Jae Crowder (99), Kelly Olynyk (41) and centre Al Horford (42).

For as much as the game was a dominant wire-to-wire victory for the Cavs, the Celtics may have built some positive momentum heading into Game 2 and most importantly didn't lay down after trailing by as many as 28 points. With their win last night, the Cavs won their 12th straight postseason game.

Oh, and there's extra motivation for Cleveland - now 9-0 in these playoffs - which could earn another long rest if it makes quick work of the Celtics. When's the last time LeBron sat for almost three consecutive minutes without the Cavaliers nearly sinking? In the first half alone, the Cavs front court out scored Boston, 47-12.

Likewise, in the 2013 Finals, the Spurs dared James to shoot.so he did, and he beat them. Kyrie was just kind of "eh", scoring 11 points on 4-of-11 from the field.

James picked apart every defender the Celtics sent his way in the first half. James said that was big. This is good news for the Celtics. Tyronn Lue was playing for the Atlanta Hawks. "It was clear that he was trying to get to the rim on us no matter who was on him", said Stevens. "When he gets going, the crowd really gets into it, their team gets into it and it opens up a lot of things". The first half finished with Cleveland holding a commanding 61-39 lead. We need everyone, every game.

"It's hard to believe, but he's better than when I got into the league", Stevens said, post a pounding from James and the Cavs, 117-104. The big man hit his first seven shots from the floor while grabbing eight rebounds, including six on the offensive glass in the first three quarters.

Tristan Thompson, who got into a few heated moments with Celtics players, racked up 20 points and nine boards.

Thomas had 10 assists but only 17 points on 7-for-19 shooting, which fit the pattern of star-removal by Cleveland's defense this postseason.

As a team, the Cavs followed their superstar, shooting 68 percent from within the restricted area in Game 1.

Turnovers: 8 (Irving 2, James 2, Love 2, Dero.Williams, Thompson). Thomas was a mere 1-of-3 from the FT line tonight, after averaging 10.5 made free throws vs. Cleveland during the regular season. "The first time in history - that's pretty cool.".

Isaiah Thomas is short.

The Celtics missed 11 of their first 14 shots and trailed 22-9 with four minutes left in the first quarter.

RJ Sighting: Richard Jefferson, who did not play much against the Raptors started the second and fourth quarters.

"It was Channing's birthday, but he knew he probably wouldn't play, and he was alright with that", Lue said. "So he came through for us".

Kevin Love erupted for a Playoff career high 32 points (18 of which came in the third quarter). Remember back in early April, when Boston and Cleveland were gearing up for a showdown and the victor it seemed would earn the East's No. 1 seed?

And there's more work to be done by both of these teams. Kevin Love hit 6-of-9 from three-point range. Iman Shumpert and Kyle Korver were each 1-of-6. Boston was 12-of-38 for 31.6 pct.
