Wenger urges Arsenal fans to ignore boycott call

A place in the top four is now out of Arsenal hands because if both Liverpool and Manchester City win their remaining matches, the Gunners will be playing Europa League football next season.

■ WENGER has urged fans to attend tonight's game against Sunderland rather than join a boycott aimed at removing him.

This Jordan Pickford must surely be the Man Of The Match as he is either a genius in goal or very very lucky, but after Sanchez calls for a penalty without success, he pops up again with a header and we finally put the game to bed.

That quality will nearly certainly see him move on in the wake of Sunderland's relegation, with Everton heading a long list of clubs keen to secure his services. However, Sport claims that Wenger is not looking to let his star player leave the club, especially after he committed his future to the club by signing a contract extension earlier this season.

"To be professional is to do your job well until the last day of the season".

If Liverpool defeat the relegated Middlesbrough on Sunday and City take four points from matches at home to West Bromwich and away to Watford it will be impossible for Arsenal to finish in the top four.

Arsene Wenger says his club's often turbulent season has not been flawless, but is far from a disaster. It's hard to plan, so you just want your team to do well, be professional and do your job until the last second of the season.

Arsenal will make a late decision on Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean picked up a thigh knock in their 4-1 win over Stoke on Saturday.

"We have 69 points and can get to 75, which would be four points more than a year ago. We didn't play well on Saturday, we know that but I think you can see Sunderland had a go, tried to score at times but we were outclassed by a better football team".

Despite a mid-season malaise, Arsene Wenger's men remain in the hunt to make Europe's top club competition next season. "Financially or negotiation-wise, it will not have a huge impact, but we want to play with the best and against the best, and that's the Champions League". "We had a hard period and we recovered".

Laurent Koscielny is also struggling for fitness, with Gabriel Paulista expected to come into a back three if the Frenchman is not available. It didn't look good but with him he is always so eager.
