Kurt Busch: Kurt Busch gets 7th top-10 in 8 plate races

"We'll celebrate with the crew and with all the engine builders and everybody else that this is their first win".

All eyes are on NASCAR's favorite son as he races Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway, a place where he's adored by the fans and expected to win every time he gets in his Chevrolet.

Stenhouse moved up to fourth through two further cautions in the final laps, leading to the race going into overtime for the final restart - where he snatched the lead away from Busch.

"I've felt like the way our cars have performed and the way they've driven, I've felt like we could get something in victory lane before the season was up".

It's nearly race time at Talladega Superspeedway, as the 2017 installment of the GEICO 500 begins at 1 p.m. You know, so close to home.

"I was really anxious that the caution was going to come out, especially when the 22 [of Logano] just barely got a nose ahead getting into Turn 3", Almirola said. "I just didn't have enough momentum to get back to him, Unfortunately circumstances didn't quite go our way".

Credit Jack Roush's team for making some substantial improvements over the off-season as well. It was going to come off in the race, and we wouldn't have made it to the end.

"He just apologized. I don't know that it was really his fault per se", Elliott said of Allmendinger.

A few years of disappointing results have served to obscure what a talented prospect Stenhouse was considered to be upon first entering the Cup Series.

"They called our director of security, and our security guy said, 'Take him to Victory Lane, '" Branham said. Kurt Busch, Keselowski, Johnson, Paul Menard, and David Ragan rounded out the top-10 finishers.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., who started second, was near the front following a restart after an 18-car pileup until a loose left rear tire pushed him to the rear. While in Formula One, it takes maybe six minutes to fire up the vehicle, because they need to check, recheck. The race was won by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. He would eventually finish in 22nd position.

"Probably could have sat down and talked to Rick (Hendrick) about running the Clash or something, but let's see if we can't try to get another one later on this year".

"Last year, we started off the season pretty decent and then fell quite a bit", Stenhouse said. Gone was longtime driver Greg Biffle so that Roush could downsize to two full-time teams and direct additional resources towards Stenhouse and Trevor Bayne, several behind-the-scenes roles were restructured, and additional personnel brought in.

When he finally got there, in his 158th career NASCAR Cup start, his team owner and famous girlfriend were waiting. So the shortest trip is obviously climbing the fence, crossing the track (which is empty), cut through the infield and get to victory lane. That's where things got a little complicated.

Haley, from Winamac, Indiana, also won an ARCA race past year on the Illinois State Fairgrounds' dirt mile. He wants to go through the tunnel and get in here.

“Thrilled with our auto, good speed, ” said Earnhardt, who didnt seem to be joking when he noted a pole would make him eligible to run the preseason “Clash” at Daytona.
